Saturday Club Ride - Carl, of course!

9am - Westhaven parking lot, 1025 Westhaven Blvd., Franklin 37064

This Saturday, Ex-President RJ grapples with the leadership duties for a ride that takes us to the south side of the west side, down as far as Spring Hill

There are three great routes to choose from, 58 miles, 42 miles and a Collegial 35 mile option. Bob Barlow will be leading the Collegial Ride

The Grand Depart will be at our usual Sunday Westhaven location, with all routes heading out towards Burwood via Boyd Mill, Southall, Bear Creek and Sycamore. From there, the Collegial route takes Mobley's Cut and Robinson to Leipers Fork and back via Parker Branch. The medium route runs through Burwood then takes Pope's Chapel and Fairview Road before rejoining the shorter route at Boston. From Burwood the long route runs south to Spring Hill, with great views of the GM Plant!  The route swings west and tackles a few lumps before reaching Knob Creek and the long climb up to Theta. After the sweet descent of Sulphur Springs, and a few miles on Leipers Creek, we rejoin Bear Creek and retrace our wheel tracks back to Westhaven

Here are the rest stop options...
35 mile route - Davis General (mile 21)
42 mile route - Burwood store (mile 17) Davis General (mile 28)
58 mile route - Burwood store (mile 17) Shell Gas Station (Official stop - mile 26) Davis General (mile 44)

Come and join the fun!  The Routes and Cue Sheets are below

HBC Sunday Ride!

Ride Start: Westhaven parking lot — 1025 Westhaven Blvd., Franklin 37064

On most Sundays, we ride out Boyd Mill and then take the tough climb up Parker Branch. At the end of that road, various groups form for different distances and routes. It is easy to do a 25- or 30-mile route, although most regular riders will add miles along the way.

What to Know:

  • The Sunday ride with the HBC is less formal than other rides, with groups self-organizing at the start based on pace and intended difference. During prime season, most groups will go 30 to 50 miles.

  • At the ride start we will establish the approximate distance that various groups intend to ride.  If you are unfamiliar with the Sunday ride (or a guest rider), we suggest you get there with ample time to check in with the ride leader and find a group to ride with.

  • There is no official sweeper on Sunday rides, given the nature of the group splitting into smaller sub-groups.

  • The most standard 40-mile route is linked below for any rider who feels they need a cue sheet. Note that this doesn’t mean that any other group will be planning on following this route, however.

The shorter Collegial route turns at Eagleville, to cut out the section east of Hwy 41

The long route has rest stop options at 24 and 34 miles, the medium route has a rest stop at 24 miles and the short route has the option to stop at Eagleville around mile 13

Saturday Club Ride - Down Knob Creek

This Saturday, Debbie Wason has put together a west side ride that covers many of our most popular roads with choices of 53, 43 and 33 miles routes

The Long route climbs Fly Hollow then comes back in via Old Natchez Trace and Davis Hollow

The Collegial 33 mile route, led by Bob Witmer, will split off from the other routes at Theta and take Godwin, Skelly and Vestal Hollow to reach the Old Trace, from where they return on the same route as the Long group.

Saturday Club Ride - Chicken Run 2

  • 5412 Pinewood Road Franklin, TN, 37064 United States (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

This Saturday, Tony P will lead a west side ride that loops up to Fairview and back on some rarely ridden roads to the west of the 840. We'll start with the ever popular climb up Wilkins Branch to get our legs warmed up!  After the fast run down Backbone we'll enjoy the scenic Caney Fork Road and work our way up King Road to Fairview. We shall pass by Bowie Nature park and go as far north as Old Cox Pike before swinging back south. Our rest stop (mile 23) is at the Country Quick Stop gas station as we re-cross highway 100. We then take Daugherty-Capley Road and Barnhill Road before reaching the more familiar territory of West Lick Creek, Shoals Branch and Greenbrier. The route in is via Foxes and Peach Hollow

The medium route cuts out the roads north of Highway 100, but offers a rest stop at mile 14 at the regular Fairview gas station. The shorter option doesn't make it to Fairview, instead cutting south on Deer Ridge to reach North Lick Creek. Note there is no rest stop on the short route

This is a variation on the Coronation Chicken ride we did in 2023, hence Chicken Run 2 - the sequel!

Saturday Club Ride - Akin for Snow Creek + Fly Foray

Saturday, Mar 29 - 09:00 AM
Akin for Snow Creek + Fly Foray
Hillsboro Elementary School in Leipers Fork, 5412 Pinewood Road, Franklin, 37064

Join us this last Saturday of the off-season for an adventure on the west side with 51 and 38 mile options.  Durk will take the long riders over to the very scenic Jones Valley and Akin Ridge on the rural borders of Maury and Hickman County before hitting Snow Creek, Santa Fe (rest stop at mile 34) and back to base on some more familiar roads. The shorter route cuts out the territory to the west of Hwy 7 and rejoins the main route at the rest stop. Both routes get to climb Godwin, take the fast descent on Skelly and the smooth 10 mile run in on Leipers Creek Road.

Our usual watering hole in this neck of the woods is the Santa Fe gas station where we overrun the forecourt with bikes and lycra and exchange pleasantries with the bemused locals. Assuming not much happens in Santa Fe, surely the highlight of their week!

The weather looks a bit mixed for the weekend. Hopefully, we can mark the end of the Polar Bear season with a dry and sunny ride

The Routes, Cue Sheets and more details can be found below
