HBC Safe Cycling
Want to be a safer, better cyclist?
The Harpeth Bike Club and the HBC Safety Team build safety capability for our members. We develop helpful safety tools, provide safety insights and, offer opportunities for road cycling skill development.
Below are our growing list of capabilities:
HBC Safety Guide – An evolving safe cycling reference guide. From a curated list of resources for pre-ride bike prep and group riding to a Lookbook of key road cycling guidance for all levels. The LINK is below.
HBC Safety Check-In – At HBC, safety and camaraderie go hand in hand. We’re a social cycling club built on connection, community, and care for one another. Our new Safety Check-In tool lets every member share safety moments (good or bad) so we can learn, improve, and celebrate our safety culture progress, together. LINK to Check-In tool, below.
HBC Safety Check-Up – Each submission contributes to our quarterly Safety Check-Up, highlighting where we’re excelling and where we can ride smarter. Whether it’s a near miss, a helpful observation, or a rider who deserves kudos, take a minute to Check-In, so together, we can all Check-Up as HBC Safe.
HBC Cycling Skill Development – If you’ve ever heard someone yell, “Hold your line!” or “Car Back!” or “Get to 2x2!” but, didn’t know how to react quickly or perhaps, even what it meant? Maybe other cyclists are giving you safety “feedback.” Well, it’s probably time to brush up on some key group riding skills ON THE ROAD.
Throughout the year, the HBC Safety Team will host on the road skills development opportunities to build stronger individual and group riding skills.
The schedules for Skills Clinics are determined mid-year and emailed to all members, as well as shared on the Club Calendar page of this site.
