Akin for Snow + Water Valley Wander
This Saturday, Tony takes us over to Williamsport for another run on Akin Ridge and Snow Creek. We last did something similar in March, but this time we get there a different way. The outward route is via Fly where they have recently resurfaced the rough road outside the sadly now defunct Fly store.
The full 53 miles route drops down briefly into Jones Valley and climbs back out on Bingham Hollow, although the surface is getting a bit patchy on the climb, so you have to option of bypassing that section and cut 3 miles / 200ft of elevation. (Details at the briefing) The shorter 43 mile route turns left at Water Valley and climbs over Gray Hill to reach the Santa Fe rest stop
After the break we come back in on the familiar route of Gaskill Branch, Chestnut Ridge, Sulphur Springs and Leipers Creek Road.
Jerry will be in charge of the Collegial route, which stays with the main riders before dropping down Fox Branch and returning via Bear Creek and Bailey Road
You can see all four route options (including the Bingham Hollow bypass) at this link
