HBC Saturday Ride - Bear but no Buffalo!

Note: 7.30am start due to the temperature!

Westhaven Car Park - Take Hwy. 96 west from Franklin, turn left on Westhaven Blvd. at the traffic light, veer right onto State Blvd., and then take the very first alley on the left into the parking lot

This Saturday Angela Gucwa is leading our westside ride that tackles Bear Creek and many other familiar roads. Starting from Westhaven. The 51 mile route runs south via Boyd Mill, Mc Millan and Carl Road before tackling the full climb up Bear Creek. From the summit the route takes Sycamore and Johnson Hollow down to Burwood. From there, we swing round to the west and climbing Les Robinson, although detouring on the quieter B Dodson road. From Theta we run down Suphur Springs and up Fox Branch. We stay on the ridge until dropping down Davis Hollow on to the creek road. At Leipers Fork we climb the smooth pavement on old 96 before descending Garrison and rolling in on Boyd Mill. 

The 30 mile route is available as a Collegial Ride option, led by Paul Aebischer. This follows the long route right to the top of Brar Creek, but continues straight down to Boston before heading north towards Leipers Creek. From there the route goes up Bailey and down Floyd (the add on commonly known as Alpacastan) before retracing it's steps on Southhall, Mc Millan and Boyd Mill

The long route has rest stop options at Burwood (18 miles) and Leipers Creek (40 miles), the short route has Davis General store (15 miles) or Leipers Creek (19 miles)
