Saturday Club Ride - Hoover Gap + Burwood Blast

Hoover Gap 7am start + Burwood Blast 7.30am start

We've got some fantastic west side route options for you this Saturday, with choices of 30, 45 and 64 miles. Leadership comes from the Ride Committee and a dedicated team who kindly volunteered to run the Collegial ride.

It's going to be another hot weekend, so we will be starting earlier than normal. The 64 miles route starts at 7am, the 45 and 31 mile routes at 7.30am.

The long route takes us over to Shady Grove and Hoover Gap, territory we've not tackled on a Saturday for a very long time. It's a great route with pretty scenery and quiet roads. The route follows Leipers Creek all the way to Water Valley before climbing over the ridge and down into Jones Valley. We then take Leatherwood through Shady Grove and over Hoover Gap, before snaking around Duck River back to Williamsport and Snow Creek. From Santa Fe the route will be more familiar with Lewis Road, Chestnut Ridge, Sulphur Springs and back in via Davis Hollow and Leipers Creek. There are rest stops at Duck River store (26 miles) and Santa Fe (42 miles). Tony will lead this adventure - 7am start!

The 45 mile route takes a very different direction, heading south east on Bailey, Carl and West Harpeth towards Thompson Station. We'll then take Evergreen Road and Pope's Chapel to the rest stop at Huff's Store at Burwood. From there it's a steady climb on Sycamore and Mobley's Cut, before a section of Leipers Creek and the shady climb up Fox Branch. We continue the shade hunting on Bending Chestnut, Pinewood and Hargrove, before dropping down Wilkins branch back to Leipers Fork. Larry will lead this ride - 7.30am start

The Collegial riders share the 45 mile route before splitting off at mile 24 and heading back to the school via Robinson road and Leipers Creek road. The medium and short route share the rest stop at Huff's Store (mile 21). The Collegial leaders are Paul, Rosita, Donna, Kim and Scott. Thanks to all volunteers, and especially to Paul who created the route
