Solstice Spin - 8.00am - Hillsboro Elementary School in Leipers Fork
To mark the Summer Solstice (OK that's actually June 20) we will be riding some of our favorite west side roads starting from Hillsboro School. Bob's route takes us up Bailey Road and over to Perkins before climbing Mobley's cut. From there we do the steady, shaded climb up Sulphur Springs, through Theta and seven miles straight down Snow Creek to Santa Fe. After the stop we head back on Gaskill Branch, Chestnut Ridge and down Raleigh Beard Road to Leipers Creek. The final run in is via Bending Chestnut and Garrison. There are plenty of options to add extra miles if you wish. Please listen to the safety briefing as there are a couple of steep descents to be aware of.
Amy's Collegial option covers some of the same roads but in an anti-clockwise direction, hitting Garrison early and coming home via Gray Lane and Bailey Road. The route has a rest stop option at the Davis General Store at mile 20.
