Scarecrow Century!
Mount Pleasant Middle School of Performing Arts, 410 Gray Lane, Mount Pleasant 38474
The Scarecrow Century is the official HBC ride this Saturday! It's the big ride sponsored by our friends in the Columbia Cycling Club and is a favorite of many of our members. The ride will have courses that feature Lynnville, Campbellsville, and the Amish Village around Etheridge. The riders will return to the Middle School where they can relax and take advantage of the delicious, well deserved lunch and showers.
This Century gets high praise for its quality at a low price. The cost is $35 to pre-register and $40 on the morning of the ride, but HBC members who pre-register get a $5 discount. The discount code is HARPETH.
Our fine collegial leaders Amy Crownover and Bob Whitmer encourage their crew to do the Scarecrow ride. Bob notes that the 45-mile Scarecrow route is only a few miles longer than many of their recent rides and has less than 1,900 feet of climbing! And Amy observes that many of the regular collegial riders have what it takes to do 70 or 100 miles!

The Columbia Club runs a great event with limited resources and this ride has been well attended by HBC members. We encourage our members to support our neighboring club on their big event!
But if you can't make it for the Scarecrow ride, here's Jerry's Alternate Ride:
Saturday, Oct. 14 - 9:00 A.M.
Bell Buckle Blast!
College Grove Elementary School, 6668 Arno-College Grove Road, College Grove 37046
A great fall ride is the metric course from College Grove down to the quaint village of Bell Buckle! It's a metric century (62.5 miles) in length, with only 1,780 feet of climbing! So it will be a fun and fast ride down there and back. Jerry Franks will lead the ride, starting from College Grove Elementary School. Here's the map and cue sheet:
