Nash Family Creamery Ride!

Nash Family Creamery, 4019 Hwy. 41A N., Chapel Hill 37034

We have a very special treat in store for Saturday!  Marlene and Mark will lead us from Nash Family Creamery into some new territory for many of us on rural backroads in Marshall, Bedford and Rutherford counties.  The two route options of 51 and 35 miles are much flatter than our normal rides!  The 35-mile route is the same as the long route until around mile 30.  In addition, Amy Crownover will lead the Collegial Ride on the 35-mile route at a 14-16 mph pace.

Here's a link to the Creamery's interesting website:

Please park to the left at the back of Overflow Parking.  The Creamery opens at 11:00, so no rest rooms are available before the ride.  However, there are a Marathon Gas Station and Morning Glory Donuts in Unionville, about 3 miles down Hwy 41A from the Creamery.

One area of caution will be crossing the railroad overpass in Chapel Hill where one lane goes through a short tunnel under the tracks and one lane goes uphill over the tracks.

Rest Stops: 35-route: At mile 14, Henry Horton Visitor’s Center (water wheel in front) has rest rooms and gift shop with snacks.  51-mile route: Dollar General in Unionville at mile 30, as well as Midland Market at mile 41

Route thru Henry Horton - The route turns left off Hwy. 31 into Henry Horton Park's main entrance.  Turn right past the restaurant, curve around to the left past the new visitors' center (water wheel).  Turn right at the stop sign, then follow the road around to the left.  Turn right at Cabin Guests Only and then left at Authorized Vehicles Only to reach Warner Road to exit the park.

Dollar General rest stop at mile 30 is not directly on the route.  After passing Community Baptist Church on Halls Mill Road, turn right on James Crowell, left on Walnut, right on Sunset, and right on the highway.  To return to the route, turn right on the highway, right on James Crowell, and right on Halls Mill Rd. Then turn right on Unionville Road, and go straight across the highway to Substation Rd.

The Creamery has seating for 45 inside, and scattered around the grounds are 21 picnic tables under the pavilion, umbrellas, and trees.  They make ice cream, gourmet cheeses, delicious sandwiches, and freshly baked goods.  After the ride stay and try several of their ice cream flavors or one of their many sandwiches such as BBQ grilled cheese.

It's shaping up to be a very fun time!  Here are the routes:

Nash Family Creamery/Chapel Hill 35
35.3 miles, +1091 ft.  Bike ride in Bedford County

Nash Family Creamery Loop 51
