For this Saturday's ride, Mark Bartleson has designed some fun routes on the east side, down to Bedford County. The 46-mile and 55-mile options will start at 7:00 at Page Middle (not High) School on Arno Road. The Short 36-mile collegial ride will begin at 8:00, also at Page Middle. In contrast to last week, these courses are flatter than usual!
The Long route has a rest stop at the Midland Market at mile 26 and at Sip 'N Scoop in College Grove at mile 48. On the 36- and 46-mile routes, rest stops are available at the market on Hwy. 99 after Snail Shell Road, and in College Grove at Sip 'N Scoop.
Bob Whitmer will lead and sweep the 36-mile collegial ride. Here's Bob's description of that ride:
This is not a ride for beginners, and an average speed of 14 to 16 mph is expected. This is an option to the regular club rides that can be quite competitive. On this route, riding together in a group takes precedence over personal achievement. It's fine to jump out ahead but you should be willing to wait at key intersections. We don't want to drop anyone but riders should be able to maintain the 14-to-16 mph average stated above so as not to slow the entire group.
