HBC Saturday Ride - White Bluff or Fairview via KS
For Saturday, Dr Michael has put together a couple of great routes exploring some lesser ridden roads.
The long route is a scenic pedal out to White Bluff through Kingston Springs and then along the river on Cedar Hill. The return route features the fun downhill run along Craggie Hope and Lovers Leap back to Kinston Springs before climbing back to the start on Sneed Rd near the Lovelace Cafe. The long route rest stop is the Shell station in White Bluff at mile 28. There are bathrooms and water in Burns Park (mile 13.7) soon after crossing the railroad tracks in Kingston Springs if needed.
The short route (42 miles) stays with the long group for the first 11 miles then continues along the ridge on CC Road instead of descending into Kingston Springs. Mt Pleasant and Kingston Rd takes the group to Fairview and to our usual Marathon gas station rest stop by the High School at mile 25. The return has this group cruising down Cumberland, north on Old 96 and returning to the start by Hestor Beesly.
The 32 mile Collegial route goes up to Poplar Creek road then swings round in a loop via Big East and Westhaven to come back via Temple. It has a couple of climbs but less than a trip to Kingston Springs! Dan & Selisa will be leading this route at the Collegial pace.
We are trying a new starting location for this ride. Since the Natchez Trace is closed and the 440 lot is now more difficult to get to, we will start at St Matthew Church and School on Sneed Rd between Temple and Hwy 100. For all of the T/TH riders who started at Bob & Michelle's house in Stephen's Valley for a recent ride, St Matthew is within a quarter mile of Stephen's Valley (and for those unfamiliar to the area, within a mile of the Lovelace Cafe). Please park in the lower portion of the St Matthew parking lot on the left side, and leave the upper part of this lot and the lot to the right in front of the school near the playscape to the church and school members.
