Shoals to Sulphur Springs!
Hillsboro Elementary School in Leipers Fork, 5412 Pinewood Road, Franklin 37064
There's a good chance of rain on Saturday, but if we're able to ride, Durk has a fun 49-mile route for us! Early on, it tackles Oscar Green but pays back by the fun run down Shoals Branch. That's followed by the stairstep climbs on Tom Rail, a nice jaunt on the Old Trace, and the gradual climb up Sul[phur Srpings to Theta. Then the route descends the big hill and makes the nice climb up Fairview Road. There's a Short option of 36 miles that continues on the Old Trace to Davis Hollow.
Caution - there are two very steep descents on this fun route. Also, due to the closing of so many of our country stores, there's no place for refueling on these routes. Since the day will be mild, this shouldn't be a problem. But be sure your water bottles are full at the start and take plenty of Gu and fig newtons! Here are the maps and cue sheets:
Shoals to Sulphur Springs - Long - 49 miles - GPS
Shoals & Old Trace - Short - 36 miles - GPS
