Club Ride - Garrison Galavant!

  • Garrison Creek Pavilion on Natchez Trace Pkwy Mile 427, Natchez Trace Parkway Franklin TN 37064 United States (map)

The course for Saturday's Short, No-Drop Ride has been revised to provide for less traffic and more shade!  Amy Crownover will again lead and sweep on a no-drop, 14-16 mph basis.  Instead of returning from Fly on Leipers Creek, riders will take the pleasant Old Trace to Bending Chestnut, Davis Hollow, and Peach Hollow Pass.  This makes the route 32.6 miles long and eliminates the country store.  Amy still plans for the group to rest in the Fly area and then return on the shady Old Trace.  The cue sheet is below.  So this is an ideal time for new and cycle-lite riders to come out!

The other routes remain the same, but Debbie will suggest possible cutoffs
if it gets too warm!  And everyone should bring plenty of water to stay hydrated!

Garrison Galavant!
Garrison Creek Pavilion on Natchez Trace Parkway at Mile 427.5

For Saturday, Debbie is starting our ride at the Garrison Creek pavilion at Mile 427.5 on the Natchez Trace Parkway. This is 1½ miles from Hillsboro School in Leipers Fork but has a nice restroom. We seldom ride on the Trace, but this route takes advantage of the nice stretch down to Hwy. 7 near Fly. There are options of 57, 40, and 29 miles.  The Long and Medium routes travel together to the rest stop at the market in Santa Fe, which comes at mile 21. After that, the Medium option makes the tough climb up to Theta at the eastern end of Snow Creek. The Long route goes down to the Roberts Bend area and comes back by Knob Creek, which also has a climb at the end to get up to Theta. The Short option of 32 miles is specially designed for our new and cycle-lite riders, and Amy Crownover will lead it again on a no-drop basis, at approximately 14-16 mph.  It avoids some of the climbs on the other routes.  Here are the cue sheets:

Garrison Galavant - Long route - 57 miles

Garrison Galavant - Medium route - 40 miles

Garrison Galavant - Short, No-Drop route - 32 miles
