On Saturday our HBC headquarters will be at very pleasant Smith Park on the east side of Brentwood. We'll have two ride courses, both starting at 8:00 A.M. The rides will feature Pulltight, a much heralded (but not really that hard climb, up to the highest and most scenic point in Williamson County). Then when riders return we'll enjoy a picnic lunch together. Here are the details, diligently arranged by Social Chair Brenda Mikec:

Parking instructions: Upon entry to the park you will cross over the bridge and park to the left of the mansion near the soccer fields. We will host the picnic under the pavilion.
Restrooms: There are restrooms available near the pavilion.
Time: 8:00 A.M. (Longer riders will start first with a short gap before the short riders begin to allow for smaller groups not departing on the road all at once)
Post-ride HBC picnic: We will gather at the pavilion following the ride for the picnic. The club will be providing Jack's BBQ (pork, turkey, brisket) with a few sides (beans, mac & cheese, potato salad, coleslaw & corn bread) and bottled water. This picnic is one of the benefits of membership and there is no expectation for members to bring anything. However, if anyone would like to bring an additional side dish or a yummy dessert, you are welcome to do so, but again no one is obligated. Come and enjoy the food and company of each other!
What to bring: Please bring your own chair and beverage of choice. *Note: alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the park."

Here are the routes:

8:00 A.M. (note early starting time) - Picnic Pulltight Parade!

We offer routes of 37 and 54 miles, both scheduled for 8:00, with the Short ride starting a few minutes after the Long ride. Both routes are focused on getting to Pulltight! The Short route goes directly by North Chapel and Trinity to Bethesda, for a rest stop at the Market there at mile 16.7. Then it climbs Pulltight and comes back on Arno-Allisona Road. Even though the Long route has the same destination, it winds around to get there. It breaks off and does the climbs of Long Lane and ventures on Byrd Lane before arriving at the Bethesda Market at mile 30. Then it does Pulltight and returns by Arno-Allisona, McDaniel, and Cox Road.
