HBC Sunday Ride

  • Westhaven parking lot 1025 Westhaven Boulevard Franklin, TN, 37064 United States (map)

We're having a most pleasant interlude in the summer heat!  Connie Weisner will lead the Sunday ride.  For those interested in a longer ride, here is a proposed 50-mile route.  Thanks to HBC Treasurer Dan Jensen for the interesting course!

Fairview & Beyond! - 50 miles - GPS
This route takes advantage of another forecast of 10-15 mph northerly winds.  It goes mostly east-to-west, to Fairview via Sleepy Hollow.  Then it takes Walker–Old Cox-Michael Langford to Old Franklin and a mapped stop at Marathon at mile 29.  The return is via Cumberland to Old 96 and back via Big East Fork's smooth new pavement with a nice tail wind.  They didn't level the climb, however!  It is 50.6 miles and just under 3,000 feet of climbing!

Sunday, June 19 - 8:00 A.M.
HBC Sunday Ride
Westhaven parking lot, 1025 Westhaven Blvd., Franklin - take Hwy. 96 west from Franklin, turn left on Westhaven Blvd., veer right onto State Blvd., and then take the very first left.

On Prime Season Sundays we will continue our rides from Westhaven.  Here is a map to guide you to the parking lot at Westhaven.  Westhaven Blvd. is directly across Hwy. 96 from the end of Old Charlotte at the big sign for Gentry Farm.

Connie Weisner will lead this week's ride and make sure all riders have safely returned.  On most Sundays, we ride out Boyd Mill and then take on the tough climb up Parker Branch.  At the end of that road, various groups form for different distances and routes.  It is easy to do a 25- or 30- mile route, although most regular riders will add miles along the way.  At the start we will establish the approximate distance that various groups intend to ride.  Many riders will do a 50- or 60-mile ride, improvising the route as they go along.  We are trying to be a bit more organized for the longer routes and often will send a suggested route before Sunday.  And sometimes we do something entirely different!

We'd better enjoy the weekend, since next week looks even hotter!
