Shelby's Standard or Shoelace Spectacular!
Hillsboro Elementary School in Leipers Fork, 5412 Pinewood Rd., Franklin 37064
On Saturday Shelby Monroe is taking us on some favorite roads down to Santa Fe. The standard route is 51 miles and takes riders up Theta by the easier route on Dodson before descending Knob Creek just to climb Taylor. After the rest stop at the Santa Fe Market at mile 25, riders will climb Water Valley and Fly Hollow before coming home on the Old Trace. But, WAIT, Shelby has an additional proposition! Riders can do the infamous "Shoelace Ride" by diverting to climb Robert Skelly and Ragsdale. That way, riders have to climb the steep ridge between Snow Creek and Knob Creek three times! We haven't had Ragsdale on an official HBC ride in a long time, so be training for one of the toughest climbs around. Of course, it is also easy to skip! The Shoelace adds only three miles to the Standard route, which Shelby will sweep. There is also a Short option of 36 miles with the rest stop at mile 19.
