New Year's Ride and Lunch!

The Keffers have planned a festive New Year's event from their home, which has now been rescheduled for the following Saturday, Jan. 8. There is a 17-mile short option and a 31-mile longer route.  Links to the cue sheets are below.  Jim is trying to demonstrate that there are some challenging climbs in the south Nashville hills!  He's even taking us past Fredia's house and up Lakemont and South Hillview, for what he calls a diabolical start to the New Year!  But he's willing to let it leak that riders not wanting to tackle those 21% grades on the first day of ‘22 may make a slight diversion by turning left at Lakemont and taking Franklin Road to Maryland Way.  (It shouldn't be a problem.  We ride it all the time in the summer at rush hour.)  Jim hopes that most riders will tackle the hills for a "pat on the back" accomplishment to begin a New Year of Riding!  Many people don’t realize that we have hills like that in our back yard.  If you think Algie Sewell and Pigg Schoolhouse are tough, you haven't seen anything yet!!!

The plan is for riders to return by around 12:30 for lunch.  Amy is cooking up a big pot of cabbage and some black-eyed peas for good luck.  The HBC is providing various sorts of barbeque.  Folks are requested to bring a salad, vegetable, or dessert.
