Our Daily Cycling Tip

Control The Kids By Setting Some Rules - Having trouble controlling your bike because of a rambunctious child in the seat behind you? Consider setting some rules. Usually, if you tell him that he can't ride unless he rides safely, he'll get the point quickly and behave. Or try bribery: Promise a treat at ride's end if all safety rules are obeyed. Trailers are much more forgiving in such situations. Kids can even play a favorite card game or amuse themselves with other safe-to-travel-with playthings inside the confines of a bike trailer.

What does Allanti mean?

We get asked this all the time and you may be a little surprised at the answer – we made it up! In 1990, we wanted a name with an Italiano flavor – something to reflect our love for Italian bicycles. And for legal reasons, we wanted a name we could trademark and control. So we came up with the Italian-sounding word “allanti!” and the rest, as they say, is history.

As for what it means, here’s our definition. In your best Italian accent, give it a try!

a-lon’-tee (1990)

Sostantivo:

1. il posto perfetto dove comprare una bicicletta.

2. ciclissimo.

Verbo: vai a tutta!

What does it mean? A little hint – the first part has to do with the perfect place to buy a bike and the last part has something to do with riding hard!
