RUSA 10th Anniversary Ride PDF Print E-mail
Randonneurs USA was founded on August 16, 1998. To celebrate its 10th Anniversary this year, Regional Brevet Administrators (RBAs) nationwide will host a variety of rides the weekend of August 16, 2008. All RUSA members are invited to participate in one of the events planned by their RBA and are encouraged to wear their RUSA jerseys during the event. A special commemorative medal has been struck (see image at right) for all riders that participate in one of these events.

Ride Description:
Tennessee will be celebrating the RUSA 10th Anniversary with an "Arrow" Event.

An Arrow is a 24-hour team randonnee event of 360K in length and sanctioned by RUSA. It is patterned after the Easter weekend Fleches-USA sanctioned by the ACP. Arrows are regional events whereby teams of cyclists all head to a common destination from various starting points. Teams must consist of a minimum of 3 members to a maximum of 5 members. Each team designs their own route and heads to a common destination set by the RBA. For more information on Arrows please visit the RUSA website.

The destination for this event will be the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. Navigationally, riders should just head towards the big "Saturn V Moon Rocket."

Transportation / Carpools:
Since an Arrow is a point-to-point route, each Team is responsible for their rider's transportation to the ride start and back from the ride finish. It is suggested that each Team get a friend, a spouse, or a significant other to drop their Team off at the start and pick them up at the finish. Alternatively, Team members could park a vehicle overnight at the finish and ride to the start in another vehicle.

Registration:
Each rider will need to complete a Brevet registration form via Online Registration or by downloading and printing out the Registration Form. There are no registration fees.

Also, for insurance purposes, you must be a member of the Harpeth Bicycle Club. The HBC Membership Application can be found on our website. Riders will not be allowed to start a Brevet unless they are a club member.
